6a: Listen to and identify musical form.
Learning Targets:
1. Students will learn about what Black History Month is and why it is important.
2. Students will listen to a South African folk story and learn the lullaby that goes with it.
3. Students will play a xylophone accompaniment along with the lullaby "Abiyoyo."
4. Students will learn about Jazz.
5. Students will discuss the building of railroads in America and why African Americans were important workers during this expansion.
6. Students will learn simple African Drumming rhythms.
7. Students will compose their own song in a group using solfege on the xylophones.
